Classes are designed to provide an overall view of beekeeping and the different methods and hives used. Classes consist of: basic bee biology, beekeeping history, hive types, hive management, working the hives, and honey tasting.
Veils, wide brim hats, and gloves are provided. I require you wear long sleeve shirts (light in color), long pants, and shoes that cover your ankles (rubber boots work great). If you have a bee suit feel free to wear it. Water and bathrooms will be available, but please bring a lunch. Classes begin at 9 am and last until 3 or 4 pm. Located near the Heights neighborhood in Houston, Texas (more details in email following purchase).
Bees are wild animals and beekeeping, inherently, has its risks, as bees will sting to defend their hives. While we take precautions to avoid stings, I can not guarantee that won't happen. By attending the afternoon class you are accepting the responsibility of exposure to bee stings.
As spaces is limited, admission is non-refundable. Children interested in attending the class must be at least 10 years of age. A minimum of 5 students is required for each class. Should a class not make or is cancelled, a refund will be given at that time. Please email is issues arise.
Please let me know if you are allergic to bee stings at the time of your purchase. I encourage you to bring your own Epi-pen prescribed by your doctor as directions of use indicate doctor approval prior to administration.
